Puppets draw crowds by Ray Cooper of Rayz Roadshow
I offered a school a free fundraising show at the beginning of June, a couple of days after performing a show for Cancer kids families.
A week before I took my Grandad puppet into the school to promote the upcoming evening show.
I think the attendance numbers almost doubled.
The children clapped and cheered for me when I came on stage, which was very complimentary, but I was son put in my place with the deafening applause and cheering when Grandad came out. They hadn't come to see me at all! It was my Grandad puppet! It was a fun successful evening.
The after he was shipped off to America for some minor surgery. When he asked what it was, for some reason he was shocked when I said it was "just a simple head replacement."
The school really wanted to pay me something, so a couple of weeks before I said if you have to pay something, make it a chocolate cake. Here is a shot of Grandad and another of the cake made for me, sitting on his suitcase.
